Quest Atlantis (QA) is an online virtual world designed for school students aged 9 yrs to 16 yr to engage in global e-citizenry while leveling up in a game that requires completion of inquiry learning curriculum tasks. Quest Atlantis is built on the best of current knowledge in games in learning, motivation, global citizenry and values education. It sits as a bridge between entertainment, education and social values. It is designed and managed by educators at the Indiana University, Centre for Research in Learning Technology and a community of teachers about the world. The program is approved by a diverse range of school systems about the globe.

Quest AtlantisIt is the brainchild of Professor Sasha Barab and as a research program, is offered free to teachers and classes about the globe. Quest Atlantis engages students in a very well monitored, safe and visionary learning space and scaffolds them in learning effective practices for engaging in a global online context, and in personal agency, mentoring and, leadership.and as a research program, is offered free to teachers and classes about the globe. Independent Community Development Consultant, Coach and Postdoctoral Research Fellow Indiana University.
Bronwyn has been engaged in educational community development for the past 10 years from her doctoral study of 12 successful online communities through to designing and facilitating communities of practice and coaching with Etienne Wenger in a number of communities of practice workshops. Most recently her focus has been on teacher learning in formal and informal professional communities and networks. Part of that focus has been with the global Quest Atlantis virtual world program, where she has worked to cultivate identity, agency leadership, and community for students and teachers. The teacher community of Quest Atlantis is supported through a smashup of technology including online training workshops, monthly Skype-based Teacher Connections, blogs, wikis, Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, Slideshare, Voicethreads, Youtube etc. Bronwyn manages this community and researches teacher professional identity and engagement in the program.
