Jane Dorner was the first editor of this website. She has had a long career in publishing, first as an editor for Longman and moving from art editor at Weidenfeld and Nicolson to fiction reader for Penguin. She has published 15 books, as sole and co-author. The 16th A Writer's Internet Handbook was published by A & C Black in January 2000.
She has written extensively for the press on a wide variety of subjects from porcelain, poetry and music to computers software reviews, and has a wide portfolio of papers for scholarly journals.
Jane is the Society of Authors representative on the Board of the ALCS (Authors' Licensing & Collecting Society) and the CLA (Copyright Licensing Agency).
In addition, she is on the Editorial Board of Logos: Professional Journal of the Book World and is a Trustee of the Kraszna-Krausz Foundation photographic book prize and is one of the judges for the 1999 Grierson Trust Award for the best British documentary. She is a Director of the Writing and Computers Association and a committee member of the British Computer Society Electronic Publishing and Multimedia Specialist Group.
