Members are welcome to join this working party, which is aiming to contribute to the Feb. 2007 volume of the ejournal Reflecting Education, http://reflectingeducation.net/index.php/reflecting
We aim to present individual thoughts and practices from the group, identify key themes and write a collaborative text. This meeting concentrates in concept maps in particular. However, MirandaNet members and doctoral students from the Institute of Education who wish to participate may have other perspectives e.g. Wikis, concept mapping, blogging etc. The working group is a chance to experiment with these new forms of communication. Please bring your own laptops.
The draft aims of the volume include:
- making a contribution to the concept and mind mapping debate
- profiling the principles of emergent practice amongst leading-edge teachers
- outlining the contribution of this methodology to the development of multimodal literacy in education
Potential themes for articles include:
- Concept mapping literature
- Developing multi-modal literacy across the curriculum Using concept maps to explore curriculum topics Scaffolding collaborative learning and thinking skills Using concept mapping for the assessment of learning Mapping evidence in practice-based research projects
Meanwhile participants are invited to contribute ideas to threads or start threads of your own to the public forum which has started on the MirandaNet website - there's a link on the home page: www.mirandanet.org.uk. People who cannot attend the seminar can keep in touch with the discussion in this way.
You can also contribute to the MirandaNet Inspiration e-journal in the form of a 250 word abstract as a formal expression of interest in publishing a paper.
(nearest tube- Russell Square. See www.streetmap.co.uk)
We will send out a more detailed programme next week. Participants can have certificates of attendance.
Please confirm attendance for catering.
