Resources | Links | Literacy Links | References | Websites of the month| MirandaRoses
MirandaRoses is one of our old traditions which we hope to resurrect (perhaps with the help of a sponsor?).
They were awarded to the best educational site of the month and the best community or subsidiary site of the month. They have not been awarded for over a year now (Jan 2006).
In selecting a MirandaRose site, we look for:
- educationally sound materials
- a statement of the aims and objectives of the site
- owner details and an email link to back up authenticity
- details of the origin of any data or information
- mention of any quality checks or referencing of the information
- creation dates - age may or may not matter
- last updated dates - shows how active a site is
- clearly marked archival information
- good design and awareness of readability
- a good search box - vital on an information-rich site
- easy and clear navigation
In judging the content, we ask:
- What learning objectives does the site support?
- Is it cross-curricular or key-stage-specific?
- Is it aimed at teachers or students or both?
- Does the resource appear to be honest and genuine?
- Is the resource available in another format?
- Do any of the materials infringe copyright?
- Is the information well researched?
- Is the information durable in nature?
- Is there adequate maintenance of the information content?
