"The motivation and the way the children concentrate is the biggest value for me. Even seeing the special needs children engrossed in the task. They will sit down and get involved. Because their work looks the same as somebody else's."
Teacher, UK school

Aim: Pupils to create an animated storybook with hyperlinks from an index page.

Pupil age: 7 to 11 years /individual or pairs

Curriculum: English, Literacy, ICT

Activity: Use Power Point to write and illustrate a simple story.
Create hyperlinks from an index page and / or between slides.

Plenary: Individually or in pairs, the pupils can then present their story to the class. Pupils can access the presentation on a stand-alone computer, or present the story using a computer projector.

Pupils use technology to enhance their story writing skills. Pupils are particularly motivated by the use of ICT in this situation, especially children who struggle with writing. The pupils discover how ICT can be used to enhance presentation of different types and styles of writing, for example, story writing or report writing.

Teachers said how pupils' self esteem was raised through the quality of the presentation of their work on the computer.
